Just got back from the Ford dealer and ask them to install Ver 3 of sync 3 on my truck. They said they can't do that can only restore to original version which was Ver 2.0 . It that right ?
Go to owner.ford.com and you can download the 2.3 update yourself. It's kind of complicated - some people make it even more complicated - but there are fairly decent instructions on the site. You'll need a USB drive that is 16 GB (it says you need 32 but I didn't).
If the dealer does it they'll probably leave your truck running for an hour. I didn't have to start mine at all. I simply turned it to accessory mode.
I couldn't find a definitive list of What's New or What's Fixed. Just some generic boilerplate. What I've been hearing is that there are a lot of bug fixes, it's smoother and faster and the voice commands work better.
Tried to install ver 2.3 left the truck running like ford says but after some time the truck just shut itself off and interrupted the install now stuck on installing update. Now What ?

I know it`s frustrating for you but no worries.
Just leave the USB drive in the port and eventually the system will finish updating regardless if it`s running or not.
If you`re going to leave your vehicle running, i`d kill two birds with one stone by letting the SYNC system update and at the same time, drive your vehicle to run a few errands.
Also after the update, don`t frustrate yourself again by putting that USB drive back in your computer to report back to Ford like the instructions say. Just make sure you have WiFi turned on in the SYNC system and it`ll send that updated info to Ford within an hour after a successful update or it might even take a few days.
