More going back together got the intake on and the air compressor with the injection pump cover back on.
Pulled the oil oil cooler and found oil on one side of the coolant ports. So now I got to pressure test that.
It could still be an issue with oil cooler or the air compressor which has oil for lubrication and a coolant supply for cooling. Intake and injector lines on Oil cooler is pretty dirty Inside the coolant ports. You can see oil on the lip and there was some in the coolant filter. Very little but this is new oil from the oil I put in. The head gasket could have had a leak but the gasket got tore up some removing the head. Not 100% that is the issue.
Upper bracket on the frame 4 of the 6 holes are drilled. Option 1. It would give 7 inch ride height on the bag. The bags should be 6-9 inch ride height. Other view The spring pack it will replace. Option 2 Option 3 with a 6 inch ride height. Option 4 Option 5. I like this the best. I can add a brace on either side. From the back.
I really like this and it's what I will most likely go with.
I was not arguing I was saying there is already one near by. About 2 inches away by the front of the rear tank. I was wondering if that would be fine.
I'm not sure you should take a chance on the frame not flexing. Those air bags can and will put a strain on the frame right there. A crossmember would be a great piece of insurance against cracked frame rails.
Ya I'm gonna look next time I'm in the garage see what I can do some 2x2 box steel should work and I can use the same bolts as the crossmember. Thorn it will spread the load more. I was looking at setups like kelgerman and they don't use one but they use a larger plate on the frame which should stiffen things up but still one sheer point at the end bolts.
You may not NEED a cross member back there, it'd depend on the load you put on the airbags. But, by the time you found out that you needed one, it'd be because of a twisted frame. These Ole trucks are notorious for their c channel rubber frames, especially the back end.
That is the bad part. I'm building it to haul whatever I need. So the insurance crossmember is a good idea. I cant wait till it moves. But I still gotta rig a driveshaft up, button up the engine, plumb the fuel lines by the engine, and get the body water tight.
Thats is a lot to do so hopefully I can get the yard done and get back on this.
Well got the valve cover on and push rods in. Also put rad support in and figured out the upper rad hose.
The valve cover still hits the firewall after some pounding. I will either need to make a access hole in the firewall or modify the valve cover. The second seems like the better option
Wiring will run along the valve cover for the engine and alt Alt wire looping around front Lower rad hose will need some work Exhaust manifold on too
Well gonna take a short break from the dt360. I need to get the plow truck going and just picked up a 5 speed to replace the E4od. So that will go in soon. I have a few parts on the way still and once in I will hopefully get it done in a weekend
Ok getting back on things. Oil cooler 2 air bags front end parts and more is on the way. I want thin thing running soon and will put off other projects to get it done one parts come in.
