Don't really have any updates except for the fact that I replaced the hubs in the barracks parking lot because I had a cracked rotor! Nothing like those nice $160 dually hubs... ha ha YIKES! Wallet hated that.
Looking to do an axle swap and making the beauty 4x4, but before I pull the trigger on a era correct D60, has anyone ever done/seen a front/rear axle swap from a 99+ SD into these trucks? Coils up front instead of leafs and the 10.5 in the rear instead of the 10.25. I know it's going to change the lug pattern.
I believe the 99-04 still had leaf springs up front. They didn't switch to coils til around 05, so your not gaining anything swapping to a 99-04.
Theres been a few guys who swapped in a coil sprung front end and 10.5. Your not gaining much in the rear except slightly better ride quality due to using overloads instead of a full spring pack, but it will need swapped in due to different lug patterns.
I suppose you ought to figure out which youd rather have more: 4wd or more power. Both are mucho deneros
I'm gonna guess $15-20k depending on where you look. Maybe less I'm just spitballing. You could make some of your money back though selling the unused parts or swapped parts. I want a King Ranch though so I can take the interior.
So I've been looking into a 4x4 swap for the truck and have been coming across quite a few d60s. There is 2 or 3 down here that King Pin axles for $1000. Now when money becomes a little more available I'll try to pick one up along with shackles and etc.
My question is has anyone ever done a 4x4 swap and used F-450 springs instead of the typical F-350/250 springs for the swap? From what I've been seeing is that the 2 leaf 450 springs will actually give you a few inches of lift in the front some even claim that it's close to a 4" lift. does anyone have any experience with this? It seems you can pick them up fairly cheap to so I have been considering it.
So I haven't been able to do anything to the truck, let alone read through the threads lately, BUT I finally sold my 4 wheeler so now I can do my e-fuel upgrade and I need a few opinions before I actually pull the trigger.
I'm leaning toward the first one. Comes with the regulated return, plus everything else I need for the kit, but I won't be getting the pumps that they offer (the super duty pump) because I was told about a different Bosch pump (Bosch 044 inline fuel pump.) I am going to be running DUAL Bosch fuel pumps, with a SINGLE 38 gallon rear tank (eliminating the dual tanks for a single rear).
So do I order their kit that is supposed to come with dual pumps, no regulated return, built for a single tank, and has a pickup or sump option OR do I go with the kit that is built for 1 pump (but can be upgraded to 2), a regulated return, and built to be used with the dual tanks.
Again I'm leaning toward #1, use dual Bosch fuel pumps, and a 38 gallon rear tank from Rock Auto. Any opinions is highly encouraged!!
