Well today was irritating. Drove 3 hours to a pick and pull that doesn't inventory parts only vehicles because they had an '05 dually. Got there and basically there wasn't a truck left, so much for my dually axle or trans cooler.

Have a line from a Junkyard on a D80 out of an 06 powerstroke though with 3.73 gears and "locking" (whatever that means, maybe limited slip?) For $920 so maybe can pick that up soon. Sure is hard to balance 2 project trucks and keeping one drivable for daily use!

What kind of tuning would I need, if any, to run a 400 series turbo with stock injectors?

A local fellow has a S400 series turbo, t4 mount, up pipes, used ARP head studs, and intercooler with powder coated pipes (same with up pipes) for a very reasonable price and I'm thinking of grabbing them.

I would say grab them if its a good price. IDK for sure but I don't think you would need any tuning. Its usually the other way around with big injectors.

Is there going to be an issue with used ARP head studs? Should I just go new since they are only $4-500?

No, after my truck burned up I reused the ARP head studs in my 'new' engine.

Well he sold everything except the Gen 3 HPOP from swamps and I already have a T-500 so I don't need that...

Gonna go with the banks intercooler kit from Riffraff and then irate has a T4 kit with an S366 turbo for $2400 so I'll probably use that.

Next thing though is going to have to be a new trans cooler. Either a 6.0 one or the new Mishimoto one. Anyone have a preference and a link for an install? Pretty sure it's just a few Barb fittings and some rubber line though.

I’d probably just get a 6.0 intercooler and wait to get the t4 setup most setups come with intercooler pipes probably be much cheaper plus the banks pipes won’t work once you go to t4 just a thought though

I was thinking the same because no point in buying the kit with all the pipes when the turbo comes with all the pipes too so I'll have wasted all that money for an intercooler basically. I'll probably just go with the 6.0 intercooler as well as the trans cooler or a 31 dorman trans cooler from LMC.

Found some nice headlights I'm going to go with too. Oh and a potential donor truck with the 4x4 trans and driveshafts that I need.

Yep I hope I can get my intercooler installed soon got a 6.0 and e99 spyder and pipes hopefully I can put on soon but on another note I’m curious to see how much you like your 05 axles when you get them installed

I would certainly love to take that off your hands for sure!

Local Junkyard has one out of an '06 with 4.10 gears, but they are only open during the week days so I can't get time for the 3 hour trip there and back before they close. Or it's $100 shipped.

Order the kit without a turbo... you'll save a few hundred dollars alone in doing so, go buy a sxe super core in a 66 or 69mm from Barder and you will have a much better setup for the cost. A gen 2 366 is under 600$ shipped, the gen 3 sxe series units are worth the few hundred bucks more!
