Door rattle

I replaced the weatherstripping in my '78 F-250 and it looks pretty darn good. The seal seems nice and tight. The only problem is that my passenger door rattles a little bit now. Can the forum recommend the best way to fix a door rattle? Thanks for your help!!!!!!

Check the striker post to see if the plastic ring is still on it or if the post needs to be adjusted. My plastic rings were gone so I just wrapped the posts in black electrical tape til it was thick enough to stop the rattle.

That plastic ring on the door posts is replaceable, yknow... think I paid maybe $5 for an assortment at the local auto parts store. Look in the "Help" section where they keep all the blister-packed odd parts like window handle *****, washer like Ts, etc. For that little money, it's worth doing it right,.

I've found those plastic pieces are the same for a lot of fords... On up through the 80's if not later. On like everything... Even mustangs.

Dodge trucks have them too but they just look different. But accomplish the same thing.

You can make your own using 1/2" PEX hose from Home Depot. They actually work a little better than the Help! type as those are a bit too thick and make the door hang.

Replacing the nylon sleeve of the striker can be a real bitch! Ford did not sell it by itself, it was only available with the striker that a gazillion vehicles used.

D2AZ-6522008-A .. Striker / R/L & F/R is the same / Available from Ford.

1973/79 F100/350 / 1978/79 Bronco.

1972 FoMoCo Passenger Cars (except Maverick/Comet) from 3/20/1972 / 1973/79 FoMoCo Passenger Cars except 1973/77 Maverick/Comet & 1978/79 Fiesta.

1980/82 LTD/Grand Marquis/Mustang/Capri/Granada / 1980/86 Lincoln Town Car.

Junkyards...get it from the rear doors of 4 door sedans/wagons...far less usage.

I just looked at my 79 Bronco door latch. It rattles a bit sometimes. Looks like it could use a PEX hose fix. What is a 1/2" PEX hose though?
OOps, should have searched before asking. It is a water supply pipe that is used instead of copper, in a picture I seen online it is blue.
