You need a scan tool that's capable of it. If you don't have one, start the engine before you put the valve covers on. If an armature plate is over shimmed and contacts the solenoid coil, you should get a MIL and the IDM may shut down a cylinder bank if it detects a high to low side short. Having a scan tool would make it a lot easier to figure out which injector(s) are the problem if that happens, though.
DO i need to put all the tubes back on before starting??
You can start the engine with the valve covers off, no inter cooler or intake tubing, just make ABSOLUTELY sure there is nothing light and loose like a plastic bag, candy wrapper, etc. that could get sucked into the turbo. Bad things happen then.
Hooked harness up turned key soon as glow light went went to start...WOW!! like a new truck "almost"... fired right up ran smooth no beating itself up ...WOW!!!!!
OK here is what I did.
Remove everything ---wait here are the instructions with kit I bought. I am 72 years old and the hardest part was laying in the engine bay-killer on the old stomach fat. Only did the drivers side so far ,but due to finding autolight gp's will do passenger side as soon as I heal up-LOL
I have some old blankets that I lay across the engine to pad my belly. The LED mod is an LED light in the dash that is powered off of the GPR so you can see exactly how long the GP's are activated.

Is the passenger side as bad to work on as drivers???
I haven't been there yet myself but when I asked which was easiest to access to verify my GP manufacturer I was told that driver's side was easier. Based on that I'd say that passenger's side is worse. I recall reading something like the VC can be wiggled out without removing a heater hose that seems to be in the way. If that helps any.
