Sure has been windy today. Not much fun doing stuff outside. Decided to spend most of the day working in the shop. Now getting ready to watch the race.
Woke up at 3AM with a migraine and at 8 AM was taking my sister's (who was to be married later today) 13 year old dog to the vet in Kasson to have him put down. They were inseperable and best friends and she was crushed - but "Honey Boy" was in agony even while on very strong pain killers for a vertebra issue..
10 AM we were at the church here in Kenyon.
11 AM she was married
1 PM we were at the Sportsmans Club in Lake City for the reception..
We just got home at 7 tonight...
Somewhere along the line, the headache went away... I'm going to have a beer now and put my feet up in the air for a while..
Here's a picture of me and my two younger sisters...
We spent the day going between dealers trying to figure things out. Last dealer made us quite a deal on this guy:
It's a 2015 Transit-350 we're getting for $23,000. Has 24,000 miles, and with only ~550 engine hours it's averaged over 44 MPH. That's pretty good for a rental van. Turns out there's a new recall out for the side airbags, and there's a stop sale order until the fix is identified, so we left after putting down a deposit. They're supposed to call me on Monday.
Looks like a nice unit Tom... Did they run a Carfax or an Oasis on it for you?
Guess you won't need me to check out the one at Milo Peterson Ford on Monday...

I should ask for an OASIS, but I have an AutoCheck report. It was a rental van in a past life, but that really doesn't concern me. Low engine hours for the miles means it was used predominantly on the highway. No accidents showing on the report, and I can't find evidence otherwise. It'll need tires before winter, but that's no biggie.

Nope, but I really appreciate the offer. With used deals like this it doesn't make sense to spend another $15,000 for a new one. I REALLY wanted the EcoBoost engine, but they're quite rare on the used market and commanding a premium. The base 3.7L V6 does a fine job moving 6,300 lbs of van along, and it should be okay towing our 3,500 lb boat as well.
Test drove an EcoBoost model and was extremely impressed. But they wanted over $38,000 for a used one with 5,000 miles on it. NO thanks, I could get a new one for that kind of money.
I managed to pick the calm spot in the afternoon to do my oil change. Didn't spill anything other than the dribble around the filler neck. I need a bigger funnel or a much better aim.
I also swapped out steering wheels with one from a '98 F150 that's softer than the one my truck came with. Aside from being blistered with a jagged edge at 4:30, the hard rubber was rough on my hands (nerve damage), so the retrofit is a good move. The wheels are identical aside from the compound used and over-all condition.
