Yup - we're back.... Brrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!! WTH happened to the balmy weather????
My truck averaged 11.8 MPG with about 500# in the bed and a 3,000# trailer.. The wind didn't help... I never go over 65 when towing either...
Doggoned 6.7 is a thirsty bugger....

A Vermont member has an 11 6.7 long box single rear wheel and he gets 18-20mpg empty. I don't know his truck gearing. What's yours get empty?

The trip was uneventful for the most part although traveling through Kansas with range fires burning for roughly 100 miles on both sides of the road at times made breathing difficult and burned our eyes some.. I'd like to know who thought that these fires were a good idea. They'd lost control of a number of these fires. A little concerning would be an understatement.
They placed signs along side the road that told motorists "Don't drive into dense smoke. Pull over to the right side shoulder".
Yea - what then? Sit and choke to death or wait for the fire to catch up with us???
According to the lady running the toll booth we stopped at, the state of Kansas had lost 72,000 acres to out of control fires.
Coincidentally, my sister and BIL were flying home to MPLS that night and they saw the fires from the plane and counted 10+ huge fires.
I belive it was supposed to be BLM land (public), but there is not a lot of information on these fires. Almost like they are trying to keep it quiet..
We did see a number of cattle in the fields adjacent though and that was a bit on the screwed-up side..
