Apoc- You can't use 4wd with different ratios. Everything will bind up and possibly self destruct. @WE3ZS Hubs or something are disconnected until then.
i copied this from the ad "The rear and front end are re geared with 488 gears. "
The ad must have been edited to include the front gearing since my previous post. I am sure that it said that the rear end was re-geared with no mention of the front.
I think Tom has the front drive shaft removed temporarily until he re-gears the front.
If you don't engage 4wd it won't matter what the ratios are. The front shaft just sits there and doesn't spin. Or better yet, if you disconnect the vac lines from stock hubs or disengage manual ones nothing will bind with the dash set to 4wd. That's the beauty of a hub disconnect.
they will spin at different rates, but nothing would bind since only the rear wheels are powered with hubs disconnected.
I do in fact have 4.88s out back and 3.73s up front with everything still in place, I just keep the vacuum solenoid for the front hubs unplugged. We do use 2 wheel drive Low range often for backing the TT into campsites and our driveway.
Someday I'll get around to finishing the job, the new 4.88 front axle is sitting behind the garage waiting. This works for us as the EX never goes off road and it sleeps all Winter to keep it out of the salt, I need it to stay in as good of shape as possible for 8 to 10 more years of tow rig duty till I retire.
As far as that CL ad though, with 38" tires and only 4.88s it will still have less gear than stock.

It did. When I read it it said the rear was regeared.
They are 17"s so they will only fit '05 through '08 I think, after '08 the minimum alloy rim size is 18" due to brake size changes. And those would of course require spacers to work correctly on an EX.

Dunno, threw them out there in case anyone wanted a set.. They come WITH spacers though.
Yes they do, unfortunately those spacers are not hub centric and at only 1.5" I think the user would need to cut their lug studs down to avoid interference.

Maybe you could put smaller wheels/tires on the front to change your EFFECTIVE front ratio to be closer to 4.88.
