Are you in Eau Claire? I'm about to do a complete brake job and if those leaf springs are not as rusted as mine I'd be interested! Mine was built in the same month as that one and didn't see any pics of the leaf springs. If you are in EC, p,ease let me know if you would be willing to check out the leafs for me?!? I'm in GB and likely won't be able to get over there before they close tomorrow. Wish they were open on Saturdays!
PM me if you'd prefer!
Thanks!
If you are going to the trouble of swapping leaf spring then do the upgrade to pickup truck springs, you will be much happier with the improved ride and handling over the wimpy factory EX springs.

Could you elaborate or shoot me a link to a thread with pictures of someone doing what you are suggesting please?!? Do you know what the approximate damage to the pocketbook might be?

Very, Very common upgrade for Ex owners on the 'net.
Like Pit-Man posted, check out the tech folder sticky thread and you'll find all the research you need.
Just really quick, in a nutshell, the OEM springs Ford put on the 4x4 Excursions suck compared to the springs they put on the F250/350 4x4 SuperDuty trucks, so a common upgrade is to swap in the truck springs to eliminate the crap Excursion springs.

What the other guys said! . Tons of info on this very popular and EXcellent mod to our big wagons!
Pocketbook damages can range from $1400-ish with all new parts from your local dealer to free like mine gifted to me by a coworker who put a lift kit on his pickup. . This spring swap is pretty much a direct part for part exchange with only a couple of small items like unbolting any overload leaves from the truck rear springs as they can damage our rear AC lines. There are also several different front springs available from various truck options and weight ratings. As well as various mods that we have done to these springs for additional lift and weight ratings.
Expect to EXperience a much better riding and handling EX with truck springs swapped under it!
Lol, yep like Pit-Man posted!!! Roger that Stew...lol
Well, I didn't wanna say "Crew-Man" because then someone woulda chimed in and posted not to wear a red shirt, because you know what happens to red shirted crewmen....
