Well, the airplane flight went okay today after I did a rebind between the transmitter and receiver. It was too gusty to do much, but I didn't crash so....
Tom - nice truck.. Are there any Lease based options that make sense?
I don't think so. We typically drive more miles than what makes sense with a lease, and I have no idea how that would work with ~ $12K in permanently installed modifications that we were quoted. They want $38,500 for that van which carries an MSRP of $41,000. Big advantage is the 6-year, 100,000 miles bumper-to-bumper warranty that Nissan gives their commercial vans. They also have a $1,000 credit towards wheelchair mods that you file for after the fact. Send them a receipt showing the mods and a form, they send you a check.
We'll see. The NV has been around since 2013, and the 100,000 mile warranty since 2015. I've found a used one that fits the bill in Bozeman, MT. Not ready to move just yet, need to see how Karri's NCLEX goes at the end of this month first.

Have you exhausted all current military discount options? Minnesota has so many assistance programs that I would be surprized if there were none to help you..

Yep, I was pretty impressed with all the programs that are out there. At the moment we are working on getting approved for a CAC or CADI waiver. Either will pay for the cost to convert a vehicle, but they won't pay for the vehicle itself. I just have to get my hands on the vehicle we want to modify, and due to the cost of modification we are trying to get something that will last us at least 5 years or more.
We've thought quite a bit about a converted minivan. Cost to convert is north of $20,000, but assuming the state program goes through this would be the lowest reasonable out of pocket cost for us. We're a bit cramped in the minivan as it is though, and we are concerned that we're asking for a for a bunch of taxpayer money for a van that we'll want to trade within a few years. My mother-in-law lives with us and helps with the kids, so there are 6 of us whenever we travel. Haven't ruled out the minivan option, but we're leaning more towards a full-size van at the moment.
