Well I hauled home another project yesterday. It is an '02 with 280k on it. The transmission is bad so I need to get that fixed up. Other then that just needs some TLC from what I can see so far. It has a BD thruster turbo on it, triple A-pillar gauges, intake, 4" exhaust, and an Edge tuner. Seems to run real good.
Yesterday we went to the zoo and found out just how much of a debacle it was to load that thing into the van.
We were almost on the bump stops with just the chair, and firmly on them once the rest of us were loaded up. I can see a hitch carrier and rear airbags working for nice weather, but hardly a long-term fix.
Took Hannah out for a walk since this is the only weekend we're gonna have this thing until she gets her own. Pretty neat, we did about 2.25 miles and she did great! Over 70% battery remaining after that, and it wasn't charged since Friday evening.
Dave did a great job talking me out of an Express 3500. Think we've settled on a Transit 350 if we spring for a full size van. Downside is the configuration we'd need is tough to find, closest one I can find is in Utah. Might be time for a road trip next month.
Tom,
I wasn't aware they made bags for those.. What about air shocks?
I don't see any shock listed for these except a Monroe standard replacement. Air Lift 60815 is for the Odyssey, and is up to 1,000 lbs load leveling. Timbren also has a product spec'd for the Odyssey.
Probably not putting money into this van though, sadly it looks like it's on borrowed time with us. Putting a $16,000 power chair behind a van exposed to the elements in a Minnesota winter is a bad idea any way you slice it. The added benefit of a handicap accessible vehicle is that she would ride in the chair instead of a car seat. She's getting heavy enough for it to be awkward, and she lacks the strength to help much with the transfer. We're probably gonna be buying a different van in April or May.
Here's how much the Odyssey liked all that weight.

Dang drinking and CL again huh Troy? I hate it when that happens! Looks a lot better cleaned up. I like the wheels.
Jay, what kind of weight distribution hitch do you have one your truck/camper? Does it have sway control built in? We need to find something for the Explorer for the new camper.
