Trouble with finding the right u-joint

For the truck in my sig, E4OD, 8.8 rear end, std cab, short bed.

I removed the rear drive shaft and then took out the u-joints. Went to the parts place and got new ones. The caps for the new u-joint were too big to fit in my drive shaft, they measured 1.22047" diameter. My old ones measured 1.06299" diameter. So I went back to the parts store and got what I thought were the right one but it isn't. This new u-joint I got (master pro 434) has two caps that is just barely smaller than what I need and 2 that are just larger than what I need.

Does anyone know what part I should be looking for? All I need is for the parts people to take my money for the right part.

Can't tell you exactly what you need. But be aware that Ford used some weird U-joints that had 2 different size caps.

Yeah, it seems mine has 4 caps, all the same size and smaller than the caps in the u-joints I am finding. The ones I am replacing are after-market but bought so long ago I have no idea what I did to get it right that time.

Take it to someone that can open a book. Looking up u joints, even conversion u joints is simply measuring a couple things and running your finger down a line to the part number. There was never a u joint I couldn't find in the catalog.

If the counter guy can't be bothered, take your own mic with you and ask for the book yourself.

Appreciate it.

I see the old one has a number on the outside: 203. No idea if that means anything but that is the only thing I see.

As best I can tell, the distance from end to end is the same measured both ways, it is 3.6115" and all 4 caps are the same at 1.0635"

Everything I find says its takes a common u joint, 4 caps with an outside diameter of 1.06" with an over all length of 3.62" by 3.62".

What I mean by "common" = square u joint, your truck has the flange plate type yoke? what you supplied dimension wise suggests that is true.

If it uses small u bolt straps at the yoke then the u joint wouldn't be the same both ways, it's caps would be 1-1/16" by 1-1/8" instead of 1-1/16" by 1-1/16" and its length both ways would be slightly different as well.
