i have a 01 f250 extended cab short bed i have a one piece drive shaft in the rear and i need to replace the U joints. i was going to order them on rock auto.com but they are showing 2 different sizes. one is 3 5/8 and the other is 4 3/16. does anyone know the right one? im guessing the different sizes are the measurement from one end of the cross to the other. i dont have the truck here right now to get a measurement on the proper size
if anyone can help me out it will save me alot of time thanks
tim
its measured from cap to cap but i cant tell you what size sorry. I can say remove the driveshaft and bring it to a driveline shop and have them do it! When i did my ext cab short beds rear shaft i destroyed the double carbin joint and had to order a new one, now i get this vibration around 70-75mph which i think is the driveshaft.......
Honestly, I would just take the old U-joints out and take them to your local auto parts store. That way you can compare them directly to the new ones and make sure they are right. U-joints aren't that expensive so I can't imagine they are much or any cheaper from Rock Auto, especially if you have to pay for shipping. Plus if they do send you the wrong ones, you're shipping them back and waiting for them to ship different ones.
