Ujoint questions

I am re-doing the u joints on the front driveshaft of my '87 F250. On the old ones, all eight caps are the same size. On the replacements the parts guy sold me two of each ujoint caps are much shorter than the other two.Is this correct, and if it is,which go into the yoke, the short ones or the long ones?Any help would be a BIG help!

I have a `87 F250 also and did the front driveshaft joints several years ago. I do remember that the front and rear joints on the shaft are different but all four cups on each joint were the same.
I should add that mine is an HD.

I would go back to the parts store and check to make sure the parts guy gave you the right u-joints. After getting the wrong u-joints many times, I have learned to take the u-joints out first and bring them with me when buying replacements. I also bring a caliper to check sizes more precisely and make sure I am getting the right parts. Good luck!
