Very cool, was thinking the Zerex as ATG used it in the Excursion section. You should be able to dump the old coolant at the wastemobile or Snohomish county dump.
Cool story about the Marine too.
After I couldn't find Gold I grabbed Zerex because ATG used it haha. And yes, the Coop or whatever in Everett/Snohomish area takes it all for free.
You might be able to sell that stuff to Starbucks as some type of NW brew.
In the one photo of the T-stat you can see white crystals. That is likely the
silicates I was talking about that tend to drop out. Heat and aged coolant are
two reasons that I have heard that can make it drop out. Dose you engine
use the additive packet to help keep the coolant healthy? But now that you
have switched you may not want to add that. You should check with the coolant
manufacture to see if it is needed and at what interval if at all in you application.
Did you also back flush the heater core?
Does your truck have the dual cores? Looks like it does not.
I just added some PDf for you to tuck away for later if you ever need them.

Looks like I proved your point! Reps to you good sir.
I will check the info. I did not add anything, just 50/50 Zerex and Distilled water.
I have 2 cores, one in the front and one in the back. I didn't do anything besides draining the radiator and then running the flush with both front and rear heat turned on full blast the whole time.
Your very welcome.
If you not getting good heat after a few times driving it you
might see if you can "rent" something like a RadVac to pull
the air out of the system.
When I say "rent" I am thinking of the tool loan program that
a lot of the auto part stores have.
Here is SrMasterTech using the RadVac. Both him and DieselTechRon will sorely be missed.
Merry Christmas Eve everyone. I hope Santa brings you many gifts for your rig tomorrow. My presents under the tree appear to be the same shape of a few car cleaning products that were on my Amazon list. Looks to be a good year!
Merry Christmas! May your heaters blow hot and your crappy cup holders not spill your hot cocos as you drive to and from your Christmas Day functions!!! Haha!!

And may your auto hubs lock when you need them to. Or in the case
of manual locking hubs may you not forget to lock them before you get stuck.
I agree on the relaxing. I got to sleep in and have barely moved from the living room couch today. Kids are happy playing with their new toys, so it's as if there's a baby sitter taking care of them.
East bound on Hwy 2, approaching Steven's Pass Ski Resort. Ended up at Lake Wenatchee SP for some sledding and playing in the snow.
Parked and making lunch. Took the opportunity to dust off the camping stove and eat some Mountain House meals we'd had lying around.
The return trip. It's hard to tell here, but it was really snowing on the way back. At a few points visibility was no more than abou 150'. Truck handled pretty good, but the horrible OEM tires hit their limits quickly.
