Good morning John. I'm headed out to go shooting with a friend, then home for lunch to BBQ with another friend. No other plans other than that.

Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Clear, sunny & 59.8°, Humidity at 95% and no breeze. On the bright side, it is only supposed to get up to 76 today. We'll see.

Both. I needed to put my new Smith and Wesson M&P9C through its paces (performed flawlessly) and also shot my friend's AR-15.

I haven't fired a gun in years, mine a just gathering dust...lol That AR-15 sounds like it could be an expensive outing with the number of rounds it must fire..

It's not too bad. More expensive than shooting my 9mm, but just a semi-auto like my pistol. It doesn't have the (worthless) 3 round burst function like the military M16.

I don't know much about the different guns, thought the AR-15 was one of them fully automatic multi firing weapons ..

Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Rather slow lack luster day around here.

Actually the AR-15 is much maligned and bad mouthed over things it can not or never has done. Chris is correct. The anti-gunners want everyone to think that the AR-15 and its look a likes is the most evil thing every made and completely responsible for everything from domestic violence to drunk driving and all murders.

The AR-15 is Semi-Automatic Rifle (only 1 shot with each pull of the trigger) and is made by Colt Firearms who still retains the copyright on the name after having purchased it from ARmalite. Armalite retains the name and licensing on the AR-10 and the M-15 Semiauto Rifle. All others are look a likes called by varying names, but generally clumped under the "AR-15" label as are just about all "black guns" .

AR-15's and their look a likes are deliberately manufactured so that they can never-ever be converted to full automatic. I have actually taken the trigger, bolt and sear assy's from M-16 and M-16 A1's and put them into an AR-15 SP-1 and it would not fire full automatic.

I obtained my first Colt AR-15 (SP1) in 1977, special order through Bi-Mart. The "SP" actually stands for SPORTER. I carried my AR in the Patrol Car and a "go bag" for many years, until the Department actually bought some for the Department. (In those days it was nothing unusual for an Officer to own their own weapons with the exception of the "riot" guns).
I still have that rifle. It has won three State High Power Rifle Championships and a number of Police Tactical Completions.
It has shot at least a dozen deer and there is no way to count up all of the coyotes and varmints it has caused the demise of.
