Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Got the brush off the pickup and onto the burn pile and have made it back home.
Time to kick the feet up and watch the boob tube. Has to be some far fetched fantasy far removed from anything close to real. Sorry, I don't do the WWF, although that is far from real. Maybe I should just grab a beer and put Avatar in the DVD....
another day...again, it got colder as the day went on....worked a while this afternoon on getting the trans out of the car.....called in reinforcements for help, and still couldn't get it....will try another day..........
Tomorrow....tractor club meeting in Madras, then have to get back to go to the school to watch my granddaughter perform in a play.
Hope everyone enjoys the weekend.
Good morning everyone. Looks like it will be a long day. The wife and I are off to Baker for a funeral, and most likely driving back after. 10 hours in the car is quite a bit. Have a good weekend all.
Good morning Ford fans'.
Luke safe travels!
Hey John, Roy.
We are off to Church in Forest Grove then spending time with Grandpa and other family.
Have a good/safe day folks.
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. WAS going to try and sneak off and go Halibut fishing early this morning, but the ocean is being snotty today. Both Depot Bay and Yaquina Bay, (Newport) are restricted and we can't get out.
The rest of the day is reserved for checking on the Eastern Front and sulking!

What is meant by "Restricted"...?? Not allowed to fish.......
Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Stayed overcast all day long but so far no rain here. Still crying in my beer over no Halibut fishing today and due to the way the run a 3 day a week every other week season there will be no further opportunity now for another 2 weeks.

It just means they have shut the door to the ocean and if you decide to try and go through the door, you will face the wrath of the USCG.
The USCG has restricted the bar to only allow boats over a certain size or classifications to cross it. Today, because the Ocean was snotty, they had the following at Yaquina (Newport):
Recreational:30 / Uninspected Passenger Vessels:25 ALL AREAS 4-6 FOOT SWELL WITH OCCASIONAL 8 FOOT SWL. WINDS: LIGHT AND VARIABLE. VISIBILITY: UNLIMITED. THE BAR IS RESTRICTED TO RECREATIONAL VESSELS 30FT OR LESS AND UNINSPECTED PASSENGER VESSELS 25FT OR LESS AT BUOY #7
Bouy 7 is just a West of the 101 Bridge in Newport and still a good 1/2 to 3/4 mile from the jetty "jaws".
About 15 miles North at Depot Bay it was:Recreational:32 / Uninspected Passenger Vessels:26 UPDATED BAR REPORT IS AS FOLLOWS: HOLE: 2-4FT OCCASSIONALLY STEEP. MIDDLE GROUNDS: 3-5FT STEEP. BUOY LINE: 3-5FT. NORTH REEF AND FLAT ROCK: 4-6FT STEEP. WINDS: SOUTHWEST @ 10 KNOTS. VISIBILITY: 6 NAUTICAL MILES
My boat is 23' which means that with those restrictions, it doesn't even come off the trailer in Newport or Depoe Bay. My friends boat (which we were actually going to go out in today) is 30 foot, and my cousins boat (at Depot Bay) is a 30 footer. No go's all the way around.
The Coast Guard has been known to park one of their 40 footers and / or the Zodiac right in the middle of the channel just to impress upon you the idea they just might be serious when they say "you ain't taking that bathtub across our bar or out in that thar ocean!"
When the ocean gets that snotty, it usually doesn't do much good to go out even if you can get across the bar. The ocean is generally too rough to keep the bait on the bottom for Halibut and the drift too fast.

Unusual weather......we had a nice steady gentle rain.....lasted all last night and all day today....rarely does it rain anywhere close to that long around here......really nice..it did a lot of good.. dampened the club meeting today, but still had a good turnout. The guys place has been in his family for several generations, so there was a whole lot og goodies to check out...his shop was big enough for everyone to fit into, and his wood stove kept it quite comfortable. Next meeting will be in Sherwood, as we have a member who lives there and has been to every meeting we have had over here. Any of you are welcome to join us and check out what we do......
Might be back to the transmission tomorrow..........or may wait until a different day. May just take a day of rest....
