If the truck does have a remote entry how would I code a new fob to work with my truck?
I forgot to ask in the last post...where is a good place to buy a complete lock set that's not made in China?
I don't remember ever seeing an OBS with stock remote entry, doesn't mean it doesn't exist, if any do it's your 97. But I can tell you how it would be programmed and that might serve as a way to find out. I sold used Fords in the early 2000s and they all(90s Fords) programmed the same. To program a remote to a vehicle you turn the key on/off/on/off until the door locks cycle on their own. You'll then click lock on the remotes and the vehicle pairs with the remotes. So if you have remote ability you should be able put it in programming mode even if you don't have remotes. I can't remember the exact number of times you turn it on/off I want to say 10, I never really paid attention I just did it until the locks cycled. But if you try and you get to 15 on/off cycles and the locks still haven't cycled then safe to say the truck isn't set up for remotes.

I removed a wire that allowed the remotes to operate the locks while the engine is running. But found that this wire needs to be reconnected before the module will go into program mode to sync additional remotes.

I believe that no matter manual vs power locks, the key tumblers are the same.

May be easier to buy a new set of door lock cylinders and ignition switch cylinder. Then you have one key for the whole truck.

I got two door lock cylinders, an ignition tumbler, two plastic black handled keys with Ford stamped on the plastic, and two all metal keys with Ford stamped on them. The look great, fit great, and work great.
