I have a 99 F 250 with power locks but i dont have the FOB. From inside when i press the lock/unlock button the locks themselves, barely move. From the outside when i stick a key in to unlock the door, its as if its the wrong key and nothing will move inside the lock itself.
I searched through the forums a bit but couldnt find anything on this
as of right now i drive my other company vehicles when i go into a more populated area. But if i really need to i manually press both locks down inside hte truck and close it up. When i return to the vehicle i literally just pop the back sliding window open and have to crawl myself in there
it isnt fun at all. But i am so confused as to how to fix this.
Is it the original key? If not, see if you can get the original or find a key that seems to have the least amount of wear on it. I've had extra keys made for my truck by the dealer that barely worked. I'd try to figure out whether it's the key or the lock. What about the passenger side door?
It sounds like the door lock actuators are going bad. Are the buttons hard going up & down ?? If so, then more than likely the actuators are bad---Not uncommon.
Are you in a cold weather enviroment?? If so, try some lock de-icer in the lock mechanism. If that works, there is a great fix ( and cheap) in this forum for the actuators
