Diffnt Lock problem

I guess maybe its the heat here in San Antonio, my driver side door lock (elec)quit working (first time) after being out in dirct sun all day 102 degrees. my problem is the key lock on that door doesn't work nevr has in 2 yrs. key goes in but wont turn left or right. always used the FOB before.
Key lock on pass side does work but elec. doesn't. Question is can I get a replacement lock for that door that uses the same key that I have now? I'd hate to have to carry TWO keys.
I'll eventually replace the elec. modules but all my current cash O.H. has other TAGS on it for now.

Try spraying some white lithium grease in your door lock. I had to do this after a recent fishing trip. A large wave surprised me and almost swept me out to sea. I had my keys in the pocket of my waders. Key FOBs don't like salt water (cell phones don't either). After making it back to the truck I couldn't open the doors. My wife ran back to camp got other keys. I sprayed the grease in the door locks and they work. I just have to remeber to exercise them every now and then to keep them working.

I had the same problem with my manual locks. Driver's and tailgate didn't work, only the passenger. Sprayed WD-40 in there every time I though about it and wiggled the key. It took almost a year, but they all work great now. Now I make sure to use the key every now and then to keep the tumblers working.

I don't know if you can get the new locks coded, but I'm pretty sure you're stuck with another key on your chain unless you buy a whole new set of locks.

Ed @ Y2K Ford could get you the new lock cylinders keyed correctly or if you got used ones any decent locksmith could rekey them to match your current key.

Have you tried taking the door panel off and removing and lubing the locks? That is what I would do first. Easy and FREE

Thanks for the replies guys, already tried the wd 40 -nothing yet.
Can't bear the thought of 2 keys(guess I could leave in the ignition
so I don;t have to carry it HUH? I'll try the lithium tonite.

Pat- I'm getting CHILLs just thinking Large wave and waders in the same sentence! Glad you're OK.

Thanks for the info Jay. I'll try that also. Wasn't looking forward to starting the up pipe thing yet anyway.
Never been able to replace a door panel the way it came off (on other vehicles hope this one's better)
