door lock won't work with key

I have an issue in the passenger door lock on my 2000 F250. My key rarely works on the passenger door. If it does work it takes a lot of wiggling and trying.

I have power locks that work normally and the key works great on the driver's door. I have no idea how it works but ive heard there is an anti-theft feature where if you hit the lock button twice on the fob the door locks no longer work with the key until they are unlocked with the fob again. I figured my lock issue was related to that.

Anyone familiar with this system and how to work on it? Any other ideas on what might cause this? Thanks!

Assuming its just the 1 side giving u trouble, then the Actuator is bad (common)

No such "anti-lock" feature that I've ever heard

If it's all Lock's giving u problems while using the Fob...Change the battery

My drivers side lock acts up sometimes when using the key. Only seems to be an issue in the winter. I am thinking some water gets in and freezes making something not move right.

My 2000 has the same problem, the simple reason it just doesn't get used often enough. With remote keyless entry I probably haven't had a key in the door lock 20 times since it was new. When I do need to use the key the locks are usually stuck. Lube it up with some lubricant made for locks and get it working again, and then try to operate it more often. The lock cylinder on my tailgate is completely stuck, I have had it out and tried to get it working again but it refuses to budge. There is no anti theft feature with these locks, it's just a simple mechanical lock cylinder.

Thanks for everyone's help. I don't remember where I read that anti-theft stuff. If I find it again I'll post it. We are in the middle of a snow storm so when things clear up I'll try lubing up the lock and see if that helps things.

If just lubeing it does not work then tear it down to the tumblers and clean it good then lube it that will do it.Had to do it to my 2000 last year as 75.00 for OEM motivated me.
