I Can't Win! IDI Throttle Cable

Sheeit, Cummins is the way to go!
In reality, I like the IDI, I've just always wanted a truck with a Cummins in it. I just hate Dodge. Ford should've partnered with Cummins from the get-go, in my opinion. Ford has always been the man's man truck, but they shot themselves in the foot by partnering with IH.
Not that IH doesn't do some good work, but Cummins is pretty close to top dog in the diesel world at this point.
As for starting, I don't know if it'll be easier or not, I've yet to see problems with any of the Fords starting in the cold.

IDIs are cold blooded and are known for glowplug issues, PSD are cold blooded ish with no GPs. Whereas a 12v will fire right off at 10* Cylinder size and the fact that IDIs are IDI, and I think HPOPs, especially with mileage, dont build full pressure while cranking, so with cold fuel, you dont get great atomization. Myself i cant stand the drone of a 6cyl. If i wanted drone id go buy a honda. Max power potential, ill give cummins the win. That said, you can easily get an IDI to 300/650 to the ground fairly cheap, 110 pump and bigger turbo, which you have to go bigger turbo on the cummins as well.

Y'know, my experience is that with a good starter and glow plugs, an IDI will start just fine down to the fuel gel point. It won't start below that, though.
If things are getting that cold, you probably just want to use a block heater.
Cummins engines are nice, but the base engine is worth more than I paid for my entire truck.
I like IDIs for that reason - cheap, heavy duty engine that can make good power, tons of them out there, cheap, and not a ton that can go wrong. And did I mention cheap?

Well, I think I was able to fix it, though there's no telling how long it'll last this time...
I completely removed the throttle cable and juiced it down with WD-40 until it was dripping out the bottom. Then, removed the split shot and purchased a couple of "cable stop clamps."
I had some trouble installing the clamp once the cable was reinstalled, so the cable itself isn't sticking out the far side of the clamp like I wanted. The clamp is grabbing the very end of the cable. But, given the light pressures it will see, I have my fingers crossed that it'll hold.
Now I can put the pedal right to the floor with minimal effort and the pedal jumps right back when I release it.
For now, I'm considering it solved. However, things don't always work out that way...
