another question about cable vs linkage pedals

I need to convert my 74 accelerator pedal from linkage to cable actuated for my fuel injection conversion. Did any of the 73-79 use an in the cab cable pedal set up or did they all use the conversion brackets on the firewall?

The 88 donor throttle body cable comes through the firewall and attaches to the pedal assembly. But the 88 pedal assy was a poor fit due to floor pan layout differences.

Really don't want to have to fork out the 200 bucks lokar wants for their universal ones.

Any tips or pics on swapping to cable pedal assy would be appreciated.
Thanks

I don't believe the cable ever actually went through the firewall, but I could be wrong. My '79 has a cable-actuated throttle, but the pedal still goes through the firewall as a lever. The cable assembly starts and ends entirely under the engine bay, and it has the bracket you speak of.

I had to do a pretty creative throttle cable setup when I converted to a 4-barrel on my straight six, because the carbruetor sits sideways. I used a Lokar cable and it worked out really well - and it was definitely under 200 bucks. You should be able to come up with something for a lot less than that amount of money.
