Hey guys, i'm looking at at 67 rolling frame, but when we cleaned off the grime below Alt. frame area, I could not see a number? I found the 2nd one under the seat area, but the numbers are bigger?
The numbers were also sort of wavy, not in a straight line. Is that normal?
I hear ya. I would just like to get my ducks in a row, just in case? Im getting a 68 w/ bill of sale only, so I'd like to document the frame as much as possible.
My 72 F100 4x4 had it clearly stamped just ahead of the spring tower on the right frame rail. My F250 does not have one in the same spot. It ma be a difference in what line the trucks were built on.
I have always heard that there are 2 stamps on the chassis frame rail. 2 on the passenger side, 1 just ahead of where the front axle crosses under and the other under the cab. Number Dummy has stated that he has seen one on the front cross member that I have not. Don't know if you are close enough to go look further.
I have a 68 frame and the only vin stamp that I've found is the one under the passenger side floorboard. None farther forward than that that I saw.
My 71 doesn't have one visible on the frame, I assume it's under the cab. my 72 parts truck is the same way. but then again, I've never really looked for one on the 72.
Man this sounds pretty common? I did find the one under the seat cab frame area, but it looked really wavy and the numbers were a larger print. Is that typical?
