Quick header install question

I will be installing headers soon and was wondering if truck will run without the 02 sensor installed for the 5 mile drive to the muffler shop or will I have to rig something?

You'll more than likely have to rig something up. Without it it'll run like crap, if it'll even run at all.

The truck will run just fine. 5 miles is barely enough time to go into closed loop mode.

Even if it did go closed loop it would sense no O2 sensor switching then use default mode. No big deal for a short trip IMHO.

CEL might come on, but don't worry about it unless it stays on wile going back home after it has been re-installed.

Thanks guys, appreciate the replies. I'll give it a go. I bought a new sensor for the install, should I plug it in and tie it up out of the way or not connect it at all?

X3 (or whatever we're up to). A shop that worked on my trans forgot to hook up my O2 sensor. I drove a couple of short trips before the check engine light came on, and then for a couple of weeks (with no driveability issues) until I bothered to figure it out.

Not connected. Better to sense an open circuit than sensing all the oxygen on the planet.
