Well.. my truck has been running great for the past few years. This morning I went to start it and all it does is cranks and cranks.. no start not even a sputter.. I use the torque app and noticed the HPOP was over 900 psi during cranking and ICP volts were .8 volts. FICM was 48.5 and around 47 during cranking. I even unplugged the ICP connector and got the same results.. just cranks and no start. i noticed while it cranks i don't get any white "smoke" coming out of the tail pipe I even sniffed in there and I don't smell any diesel at all. I pulled the upper fuel filter and it is full of fuel, the fuel pump does its normal buzzing when the key is turned on. I even checked the emergency shut off switch for the fuel pump and it was fine. At the moment I am charging both batteries... they were draining because of all the cranking. I think I will check the FICM with a multi meter when the batteries are good and charged.. until then does anyone have any other ideas? Seems weird to be running fine with no hints of issues then all of a sudden its dead... lol Thank you!
No, but I'll check it now... I figured since the upper filter housing was full the lower should he fine... I am under 10,000 miles on the filters... thanks for the reply..
It's been running like a champ for quite a long time now....lol I had the FICM replaced almost 5 years ago and the one before that lasted 18 months.. another thing to add is I don't have any codes..
I found the equation for the FICM Sync but I can't seem to find a post with the cam/crank sync Pid.. can anyone post the Torque equation for that one please? Thank you
So far I checked the FICM with a volt meter with the ignition on and I get 48.3 volts, next while cranking the ficm sync is 1 the injector pulse reads 0.0 . I'm going to charge the batteries for a few hours again.. all that cranking has drained them a little.. I'll get the rpms and check the icp volts after the batteries are charged back up. Oh. I don't know what the crank cam sync is I couldn't find the equation to put into torque..
Also (a premature guess) - if your batteries are OK and you are getting the proper rpm when cranking, then I am leaning towards a cam or crank sensor (due to the 0 inj. pulse width). Posting the requested info above should point us in the right direction.
FUEL PW (fuel pulse width) - Pulse width defaults to 0 w/o CKP signal, RPM below minimum spec, or low ICP, or bad CMP signal.
