I drained the radiator, back when I thought I'd have the engine running in just a couple of days, and I can't seem to get it to screw back in. I turned it both ways for what felt like forever but it didn't close. Anyone happen to know which way I should turn it to close it?
If anyone else runs into this in the future, maybe this information will help.
Turns out, someone tried to repair a leading plug with JB weld or something. Over the years, it took on the same uniform gunk color as the rest of everything else so it was hard to see.
Apparently there are two parts to the drain plug assembly and the part that threads into the radiator seems to have fallen in the radiator. As a result, it won't plug no matter how I turn it.
I've ordered a replacement plug to which I'll drill and tap unless there isn't enough room to which I, too, will JB the nut portion to the radiator. Thus continues the circle of wtf'ery.
