Thanks Byron! I have the torque pro app but haven't played with it much yet. The cel turns off on restart so I think I'm ok.. It only comes on when I get into it in a hot tune.
My truck runs so much better now I can't even believe! I don't know how people like Aaron drive theirs on the road empty without breaking every speeding law.. Ever...
Long story short, I'm a happy camper! Pictures and a video soon...
Curious what the CEL code is? 1211?... regarding your OD light flashing, no this is not normal, and is also a sign....a very very bad sign if it was not a fluke! Hopefully it was fluke from the install.
I'm not a tranny man myself, I send them elsewhere, but when the blinking light of death starts to come around, it usually hangs out for a bit. How many miles on that trans? She might be screaming for relief in the bigger tunes...
Glad you got it all done, they sure are much more fun to drive than the stock setup eh?
Transmission light only came on one and very briefly. I just had it rebuilt about 6 months and 3k miles ago.. So I really doubt anything is going on with that. It's also been upgraded with hd clutches and a transgo tugger kit.
I'll get the torque pro thing sorted out soon.. What is that 1211 code?
And yes. I have the typical goofy grin every time I stomp the go pedal... Until I see the fuel gauge that is haha
Nope just the stocker hpop. It's fairly fresh.. Only about 115k on it. Who gave you that economy tune? Swamps has a "highway fuel econ" tune but it still rolls some good smoke if I get in it and every upshift...
So that's another thing... Swamps has a light tow that is almost smoke free and has good power but the shift points are way too high. Their economy tune has awesome shift points but smokes... Why can't I have my cake and eat it too!?!?
Haha I also need to let her breathe! I still gotta get that exhaust bought and installed... Then I might be able to get a hpop...
I also don't really want to get a crazy turbo or really even get an intercooler unless it's absolutely necessary. I'm not towing anything so I really don't neeeeed the power.. I just want it lol. I guess I'm just playing around and tinkering
Ok so I made progress yesterday. After fixing my well pump (for now), I had just enough time to put my Pyro in and wire it temporarily. It's probably the saddest wiring job I've ever done, but it works and it was getting dark. Now, all I have to do is get the other three gauges in and I'll be cooking with Crisco!
Ok so I got all the gauges wired.. All I need to do is install the transmission probe and get a t for the boost gauge.
Results so far (rosewood stage 1 and hydra with swaps tunes, no load) SMOOTH idle, good power, lots of smoke, high egts. I've had the cel come on twice, both times rolling serious black smoke (on rural roads, I promise lol) and it went away upon restart.
Of all this, egts are my worry. I was cruising i20 on my way home yesterday maintaining 70mph up a slight grade. I looked behind me and realized I had been putting out a pretty good layer of smoke.. Looked at Pyro and it was solidly at 1200.. I let out of it, temps fell, I crested the hill and was fine the rest of the drive.
I'm guessing I'm needing some more conservative tunes? I'm planning on trying hydra's stock tune once I've gone through both tanks on the highway econ tune and comparing mpgs and egts.. Now I know the frustration of having power but having to be responsible and baby the truck... I haven't even tried the hot street option lol
One more thing. The truck puffs our a pretty good cloud on the 3-4 shift every time.. Unless I'm being very, very careful. Is that normal?
I see myself investing in some gear head tunes shortly.
You'll see those EGTs until you invest in an intercooler. CX Racing has a full kit for $900. I'd think about it if it were me. I did mine before doing injectors.
