chewed wire ?!
I was on the highway at night, going 70mph, then "wrench" light came on, truck started hesitating every 4 seconds, like not getting fuel, choking. When I slowed to 55, it went to every 5 or so seconds. The slower I'd go the longer between "chokes." I didn't want to stop, it was dark and no one was around. Kept it at 55 to get closer to my city.
Then I lost dash/tail lights. Then ABS light came on dash, then radio lights started fluctuating. I turned off everything but headlights, which started getting dimmer, finally off, then engine died.
I hope I didn't ruin anything major by running it until I had no power but I did make it to within 5 miles of my town, and to where there was more traffic. It was an 80 mile trip, trouble started after 60 miles, and it made it 15 miles after the trouble started.
After towing home I found the rat nest/chewed wires. I removed the plug and saw that 4 wires went into plug and ended. The green with brown stripe went into the plug, out the back and looped back into the wiring harness. So I figured I didn't need the plug (wires chewed to close to plastic to splice), so I taped off the ends of the other wires, and connected the gr/br wire to restore its loop.
I charged up the batteries, started truck (no more "wrench" light, but check engine light on), and it idled fine, no choking. I turned if off, and when I tried to start it again the batteries were too low to start.
I have looked superficially for other chewed wires, don't see any.
I will clean battery cables/connections, recharged, and try again.
Hoping a battery or my alternator isn't fried.
Please help with following:
1) PLEASE let me know if I may have ruined anything by running it until it had no more power.
2) WHAT does that green wire with brown strip go to and would that wire have caused my electrical power to die? (If not I have to keep looking for chewed wires)
3) Any other tips on what to do is appreciated!
Thank you all so much!!!

You may want to edit that so people can tell what you have. You can also add it to your signature.
That is if you want to. Anyway if you post the year I can get the correct diagram for the plug with
the jumper loop. That plug with the look is for if you had the dual alternator system.
2 things to do right now are charge the batteries and have then and the alternator tested.

Then what, you pour it on all your wire looms, or just over the whole engine???
I'm sure it can be bought somewhere...
see what I did in post #40
"here fox, here fox, I've got a cup for youuuuu."
My advice is not to do this "mod" in the morn. It's Not your morning joe.

see I can also post the pin numbers with colors and a face diagram.
