New guy with a 50 M47

Hello, I just bought a 50 Merc truck and I came to this forum for info and wisdom! I live in Wisconsin, found it in Iowa and bought it. The flatty is supposedly seized but we will see. I plan to leave it original and just have a nice truck to tool around in. I am currently restoring some other vehicles so I think that the big projects for this truck will have to wait until next spring. The one area that looks tough to find is the trim. If anyone has any ideas, please send them my way. Thanks for the time, Pete.

As I found it!

I now have the brush guard off. Anyone need the guard?

I'm confused... What are those lights in your front fenders?

Those lights were put on by someone who evidently could not find the right ones. They seem to be to small. I would like to get originals.

I'm thinking there just 48-50 ford parking lights, the ones in the grill, I think they just moved them out to the fenders for mercs. I'm not sure though

The Parking lites on your Merc are where they are supposed to be.The lens are hard to find.
they are not rounded like the Ford trucks grill lens is.
I was told 46 Merc car lens will fit, have not found one yet. Ron

I think we need some help from our neighbors to the North. Or someone more familar with the Mercs.

Pete, if I make it to the Jefferson Swap Meet in a few weeks, I'll let you know. I'm just north of Milwaukee.

48-50 Mercury truck park lamp lens p/n 21A 13208. It's the same part as used on 42-46 Ford passenger cars. The lens is reproduced and readily available. The bezel is likely the harder part, as it's unique to the Mercury truck, p/n C7RCM 13210.

Info from 48-51 Canadian Ford/Mercury Truck Chassis Parts Catalogue.

Pretty much all of the trim on your truck should be stainless steel, and can be repaired and polished to look like new, unless it's wrapped up like a pretzel.

Welcome to the forum. Nice truck!

Thanks for the info 52 MERC. I ran a magnet along the trim and some of it is aluminum I believe. Most of it is stainless. Thanks guys.

Stainless steel is not magnetic. So doubt it's aluminum. Probably just stainless like posted before
