Hey all.
I had an Edge Evolution on my '03 F250 6 litre. Long story short, my dad bought an '03 F350 6 litre and I gave him my Edge and bought myself an sct live wire.
Here's my issue, I returned My truck to stock, put the edge in his truck, SCT in mine. Neither of them will load a tune file. Edge has a checksum failure, and SCT can't save stock info.
Is there a process of unmarrying the Edge from truck? I thought reverting to stock was all you needed to do, but apperently not. I'm not finding any answers online so help is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks guys.
Also thinking it could be two separate issues, coincidence.
Sounds like on the Edge, a checksum file is from the truck not having a stock tune. I can't verify my dad's truck had a stick tune when he bought it. Engine was replaced 30k ago and felt quicker than my F250 stock to stock, both have same gears as far as I know. (Same rpm at same speed)
If this is the case, do I get it reflashed? Can I do it myself?
The SCT issue confuses me more, the (brand new) tuner needs to be updated according to the internet?
I'm struggling here guys, and dad wants his new tuner working because he just got back from a trip with my truck while I worked on his.
you should be able to update the sct over wifi. thats the easy part.
the edge tuner i had gave me a checksum issue once.
i trued again and it eventually worked.
you can try doing a factory reset on the edge and see if that helps.
IIRC it is in the tech support options.

Yes - it can be updated, but it is still "assigned" to just one vehicle. I have two F350's and had to get individual tuners for each one.
the SCT tuner comes with 5 unlocks.
so the first truck it is loaded to is number 5.
then if you load truck 5 back to stock then you can go to truck 4.
so on so forth.
you can not go from vehicle to vehicle unless the previous one has been returned to stock.
the OP is not trying to tune 2 trucks with 1 tuner.

Interesting - I had asked 5 Star if I could do that and was told "no".
I thought the OP may have been trying to just use the tuner in the second truck and, based on what I said above, understood from 5 Star that you couldn't use it on a second truck, even if the first one was returned to stock.

that may be the case with 5 star.
With SCT you can even use up your 5 unlocks, and then pay them and get more unlocks.
you can also pay them to unmarry it too.
The SCT i have now was used and i bought it off on CL.
i just made sure that it was unmarried and had some unlocks remaining.
I understand a tuner can only do one truck at a time. Hence two trucks, two tuners. Maybe I wasn't clear enough.
Anyways, I have a feeling the F350 (dad's truck) does not have a stock tune, as it feels faster than mine with a stock tune loaded. In this case do I need to get the truck reflashed at a Stealership, or can I maybe do this myself?
On the F250 with the SCT now, I was reading some other forums and read that SCT has been having an issue with this lately, something about the tuner not recognizing the tcm strategy...any truth in this? I'll be calling SCT tomorrow stating I'm getting said error message when trying to tune my stock written truck. Wish me luck...
I have not heard anything about the tcm issues.
Calling sct will be your best bet.
When you plug it in go to vehicle info and see what the pcm and tcm numbers are.

Will do...I'm worried about having info for them because I will be out on the farm all day tomorrow so won't have access to a computer or anything, hoping for advice from them.
