tuners,,monitors..????
ok,, so confused... got money to spend and not sure what to buy. I really like what i read about the '"edge- insight" but i called SCT today and the guy on the phone said that he has seen times when the "edge monitor" didnt wanta co-exist with the SCT Tuners. Which that was my reason for calling,, didnt wanna buy something i couldnt use.
So what do i need????. I read alot about the SCT with custom tunes is the way to go,,and then everyone like the "Edge- insight" for monitoring.
As you can tell, i dont know much about this,, and dont have either at the time. The price is kinda important but i dont want to buy two of anything.. thanks.. herb

OOO, that to me is strike one for SCT. There are a couple of users on this board that use the Insight(Edge) with SCT's X3 and haven't had any issues(as far as I'm aware of). Tuning and monitoring are seperate deals unless you have a tuner/monitor then you can get into "sticky", kindy "charcoal" area. Might accidently hit the switch on the fly tuning on the monitor, when you have a custom tune programmed into the truck kinda thing.
Now, if he was thinking you were talking about something like the Edge juice which uses the attitude monitor that has buttons for changing tuning, then SCT might have been telling you something that could be true, but I haven't heard of one instance with people using the Insight or even the DashDAQ for monitoring while running SCT tuning. I did that once, ran the DashDAQ for monitoring and the X3 for tuning while I was waiting for the beta cable for the Spartan Phalanx tuning. I didn't have any issues at all.

I'm not really up on tuners, but I don't believe there is a problem with an Edge Insight coexisting with an SCT. My guess is that this issue would happen when someone tries to use an Edge programmer, running on a "stock" setting, combined with an SCT. Which would lead you to believe that an Edge "stock" setting is not really completely stock. I don't know about all that, but I don't believe the Insight model will be any problem. It does not write anything, just reads only.

I recently got set up with the sct x3 and edge insight. Everything is working fine. I have heard from some of the guys who actually do the tuning not to use the edge juice with attitude as it would conflict with the sct tunes. That's what I had previously before the sct, wanted to keep it just for monitoring temps...sold on ebay and bought the insight.

thanks guys,, thats probably what it was,,maybe he misunderstood what i was asking,, im ordering it tonight,,,,,, but i'm undecided now (hate decisions) if i was the dash mount (which is felcrow) or on the column,, so i suppose you just have to keep buying different columns if you add anything else on, just not but so much room for all this stuff. if anyone had a picture of their setup, that would be great... im soooooo excited...lol
