The last year or so I owned that truck, I did a lot, of body work, including a cab swap.
I sold the truck to help pay for the move out here to NC. I gave the guy that bought the truck from me, a section of the drivers door jam from the original cab. That section has the VIN decal on it. I was going to cut out that same spot on the replacement cab, and weld that section into the new/donor cab.
So, the VIN number on the cab does not match the title. But, the number on the frame is correct, to the title. The truck was sold two other times in a year or so. Now a friend (also an FTE member, back home) has the truck, with a clear title in his name. It's just that the VIN not being on the body that has me concerned.
That's what I do best.
So I'm trying to find out what I need to do, to get the truck registered out here. I have one more payment left, then work on transporting it to NC.
In NC and alot of other states.... title stays with the frame.
That being said state of NC you don't need a inspection for a 79 since it's over 30 or 35 years old.
If its been titled in a previous state and not on the road in many years the DMV will want to look it over before issuing it a NC title. This was a pain in the *** for me as my 66 Mustang had previously last been titled in Louisiana in 1992. Even though it was titled to me and had been in my possession for 20 years they would not give me a title without doing their inspection, which was a nightmare because due to a collision the previous owner had, the drivers side fender apron was replaced (this is where the public VIN is displayed on that era Mustang). I had to remove the front fender so he could see the hidden VIN which is closer to the cowl in order to verify that matched the VIN on the door & the title, and then they issued me a new title with a pretend VIN# and new plate that they stuck to my fender apron in the public VIN area. Hopefully his collection of parts with different stampings won't cause as much of a problem

It's has a good/clean Missouri title right now, and has been on the road, with fresh tags on it. The friends that own it now recently parked the truck since we've been paying on it.

Iirc there is a place that with a copy of the title will make you a new Vin tag for the door. They are identical to the one the vehicle came with and are honored by the state from what I understand.
Today marks the start of the 8th week since I began dieting and exercising. Today when I stepped on the scale it registered that I have now lost right at 30 pounds! My goal is a 100 pounds, but when I make it I am not planning on just stopping there, I'd really like to be in the 200-225 pounds when I stop loosing (actual weight). The doctor tried to prescribe me some bull crap weight loss medicine that was $150 a month but I told him to stick it. So I've not been doing anything but eating a little better, pushing myself away from the table a little sooner and exercising 30 minutes to a hour a day.
Good to hear 77mud, and Bob, I don't foresee you having any major issues from it. However, this is NC, and NC has some weird ideas when it comes to cars, so we'll see.
We'll find out shortly, but not soon enough. I'll have it paid off the end of September, and hopefully have it here by December. Have to save up money to have it transported.
