Made a wrong turn in Ohio and instead of going 70 across we took the toll road up 80 through chicago. Very nice rest areas on the turnpikes.... 20 dollar hookups overnight was awesome. Tolls were not so awesome. Even with an Ezpass. Chicago was about as bad as I was warned it would be. Worse than Atlanta for sure.
Here we are somewhere in Illinois, right before entering Chicago.
The roads around Chicago are in pitiful shape. At least our roads around ATL are in good shape, just so many people and hazards are everywhere. When we went to Wisconsin last year, I-39 & I -57 beat us to death. Even busted the right front shock on the truck and the welds on my crossover toolbox. Beautiful sights, but bad roadways.

We went through the Chicago/Joliet area on I-80/90 at around 10:00AM in 2015 on a weekday and were surprised that it went so easy, much better then say, St Louis, Cleveland or, shudder, Houston's I-10 Katy Freeway (which isn't free) at noon. While that Chicago road condition wasn't as bad as years back, still not good.

I totalled up the tolls, it was 171 dollars from Lancaster PA to Wisconsin.
Now, you'd think they might be able to pave a road with that money, but I hear IL has some serious debt problems.
Just trying to get to the Ezpass lanes at most of the toll booths was a 30 minute ordeal.
It was a lot nicer in Florida. That was back in February. Cold here and 80 and sun there. I make the trip every year about that time and it breaks up the wi winter nicely. I pull that trailer every week in the summer and have had the truck since may of last year. Most of my weekly trips are 100ish miles or so. My wife was a little uneasy about spending the kind of money I did but since she drives it most of the summer she has since fallen in love with it.
