Our rig. Love it and the truck handles it quite well. Afr25 yrs in truck campers this thing feels like a palace. IVe not figured out the pivot point when backing it in yet,so that is still a bit of a struggle.
That is an awesome looking set up, as a short bus (ummm I mean bed) jockey, the amount of space you have with that long bed looks really nice... you could install a hot tub in there!

Tested our dry camping setup this weekend at a winery in South Jersey, our 50 amp EMS/surge guard didn’t like our little Honda gennies that we have been using for years on the old TT and a same make EMS/surge guard. The Southwire unit showed good power to both legs but wouldn’t turn the power on to the trailer after the wait/test period, it has worked several times on shore power at the dealer, campground and at home. I climbed into the compartment and removed it from the circuit and then all was well.
I also must be making progress on the reversing learning curve, only took me 2 quick tries to back it into our driveway when we got home!

I suspect you have a neutral bond issue in the generators. Maybe with the adapter you're using. It worked fine on a 30 amp system, but a 50 amp system is a different situation.

The winery was a Harvest Host and is Bellview Wineryin Landisville NJ. There are a TON of decent wineries in South Jersey, this is the first Harvest Host one that we have camped at, not sure how many others there are in the HH program. We have stayed at many other wineries via HH as well as several other small businesses on our travels, country stores, coffee houses, breweries, pubs an alpaca ranch and an air and space museum, typically interesting places.

Thanks Jim, but both the TT and this fiver are both 50 amp rigs using the exact same link cables between the Hondas, same 30 amp twist to 30 amp RV adapter, same 30 amp to 50 amp dog one adapter and the same 50 amp power cable.

Oh, didn't realize the old rig was 50 amp also. Either way, something must be different.
Literally the only two things different in the equation is the trailer and the EMS/surge guard. It works fine at home on the same 110 volt extension cord with 50 amp adapter at the connection point that we used on the old TT.. I’m thinking that the new EMS is just a bit too “tight” and is rejecting the power even while showing green lights on both lines.
At this point I think that I will set it up on the shore power line before the transfer switch and then wire the Hondas to a separate plug on the gen prep supply line.

I tried to think of anything else to consider and came up blank. Something goofy with the new EMS is definitely something I would look into by checking with the manufacturer.
Give your issue, I put some though into my system and how I don't (usually) worry about under voltage (AC) situations since my inverter will provide a boost from the battery bank to make up the deficit. I need to look at what the Multiplus will do in an over voltage situation. I do have a plug-in EMS but I'm so rarely at a location with a pedestal that I usually forget to make use of it.

I had mine in our driveway for the first time and had the power adapted down to the 20 amp line off the back of the house and my surge protector tripped. I got a voltage out of range error causing the trip, I was just running the power to top off the battery (yes only one, ugh) for the fridge. So similar issue, the surge protector saw something it didn't like and popped. I was surprised how much the battery got drawn down, it was 90*F+ but still more than I expected.

Ours is mounted in the rear basement also and the prior 50 amp TT was also mounted inside but ours do not have the bypass option. I’m not too concerned with the condition and power output of our Hondas, they have been flawless for years, I am more concerned with some of the campground shore power. So that’s what I am currently (see what I did there….) thinking of installing the EMS on the shore power before the transfer switch then setting up a new 30 amp input port for the Hondas going to the genny side of the transfer switch.

Denny, what brand/model surge guard do you have that has the builtin bypass option, I haven’t seen that and it sounds useful.
