Here's a picture of my truck. I also have a custom cab parts truck with remnants of a dome light on it. They both look just like this. The dome light screws into that frame on the right side of the photo.
This is another old post. But worth reviewing. I have owned three F-100s over the years 54,56,and now my 55. Was supposed to be a driver restore type thing but that did not happen. I found a dome lite assembly in the spare parts that came with the truck. I think the head liner was professionally installed, but the dome lite was omitted. The same lite frame is there looks like to mounts with three screws, and the switch I just purchased it mounts with two holes. But it's not mounted to that frame. Figured there just be something attached to the truck that this dome lite attaches to. I found two wires that are going up in that area. Not where Mid fifty says, but under the left floor mat and up along side the left headliner. Hopefully it does to the area where my dome lite is supposed to be mounted. Hate to cut into my headliner it's really a very nice headliner.AJ
Just looked at FAdoodles cab photo and I can see those five holes that everything mounts to. Looks like PK screws maybe -4s kinda missed that in my review might look at it again noticed that switch mounts to the left side. Hard to see it but those puppy’s are their! AJ

Thank you for your post. Sad to say, I sold the truck. But, I did snag a 1964 N-600 Ford truck. Any info on this of any kind is greatly appreciated! Good luck and happy truckin!!!!
Well my 55 is nothing like what’s posted just a square hole and a reinforcement that goes to the front. Doesn’t look like a dome lite was ever installed. I cut the headliner and no way can I attach this dome lite. Their is an electrical line like I mention but it’s not automotive wire. It’s stiff copper house hold wire. I cut my head liner so I am going to install this unit. Still brain storming to see how to do this. AJ
I ended up fabricating a dome light bracket. Thinking this F-100 never was equipped with a Dome lite. One of ten trucks ordered and delivered in South Texas. And Manufactured in Kansas City Ford assembly plant. That’s all I know about my truck. So I made a new bracket shaped like the dome lite housing. And will secure it to the square open panel. Should work just fine. Not planning on using the door plugs just the switch on the stock dome light. Thru a fuse. And so it goes in 24. AJ
My Deluxe Cab 54 also has a courtesy light in the kick panel - just an extra wire running to and switched by the door switch. I didn't know if was there as the bulb had burned out long ago. I rewired all and put a new bulb in the fixture and it works great!

Uh-oh Brian! You're not going to the Dark side are you?

It appears to be 100% stock - an old fixture and it fits into a place in the metal along the top of the kick panel. Also the kick panel has what looks like factory slot/place for it to poke through. I'd sys it stock or at least a very early add on if so.
Well I have a question. I don't think this was mentioned.
Where do you route the wires? I will admit I haven't examined my truck that closely, but how do you get the wires from that high down to power?

They follow the driver side headliner, then drop down the front post of the door jamb.
