Long time since I've been on, glad to see there is still so much activity here.
Last week I installed the sound dampener and insulation in my truck. I have to say its the 2nd best thing I added after power steering.
Going to install the ABS headliner and dome light/switch I just got from Mid-Fifty.
Can anyone clue me in to how this interior light and the switch that sticks thru it get mounted? Do they mount to the headliner? I have some metal that sticks up above the center of the rear window but it has no mounting holes in it.
I think this is the first thing I have ever received from Mid-Fifty that doesn't have install instructions.
They don't post it on their website but they do include wiring instructions. Its the actual mounting of the light and switch I am struggling with. Just spoke with them and they are going to try to take some photos of one of their cabs and send to me. This appears to be the rare case where something is easier to wire up than mount
If anyone has a photo of theirs mounted it would be helpful. Plenty of photos on the web with them unmounted.
Here's a pic of the dome light mounted. I don't have a headliner yet, but Wayne sent me a template from his when he removed it so I could see where to put the holes for the lamp and for the switch.
All above responses are great! I just placed a cardboard grey headliner in my truck and I thought the instructions were alittle vague, but this was the first time I tried it. Plus, I placed in the wiring and all the dome light body. I thought I did a fair/good job. If you need any more info or pics, just let me know. Good luck! Chris

Hey Chris, have you got any pictures of the dome light mount without the headliner in? I guess I will need to make something up as mine seems to be missing.
53Olderthanme....my dome light frame was stock and already there. Sorry this was the only pic I could find. I was, at the time, checking out some seats in The Hulk. I decided to use the original bench seat....now recovered.
Possibly you can fabricate one or get one from a donor truck if you want the original look. I don't think it would be too hard to make with some tin made into a box, cut the 2 holes, and JB weld/strong glue.
Thanks guys I am definately missing that frame. I did install the ABS headliner tonite and I think its strong enough by itself to support the light. So I think I will just dremel a hole into it and screw the frame right to it.
The 53-55 (I do not sure about the 56 but believe it is the same) is nothing like the earlier model cab as far a dome light is concerned. If no one post it before tomorrow I will take a picture and post it. It mounts to a brace that supports the headliner from the rear window to the above the windshield.
