52 f3 dome light install
Hello, our grandson is coming next week for a few days. I want to put him to work helping me install the headliner. I have a carpenter cardboard headliner, and i'm clear as mud as to how to install the domelight. I was going to use a truss head bolt, bolt the dome light up ahead of time, and then just let the headliner and rear window gasket cover the bolthead. But then I would still have to get a finger up behind the switch to hold it in place while the switch nut is installed. What am I missing here? Thanks,
Larry

Hi Larry, I put on my F3 headliner in early spring and included a dome light too. I could not figure it out either! I ended up trimming a bit of the headliner back so that I could reach the nut, then flapped the piece back over and used some brown duct tape to neatly make a seam around the light. Then the on/off switch was hard to reach so I had to do more trimming and taping.
It looks a bit odd but nobody but me and a few guys here will notice that detail and that the 'trim' does not come that way from Ford.

Hey fellas, I think I will leave the dome light switch in place with a skinny nut, measure three times and cut once(hopefully). The small bulge that little nut makes won' be noticed.tom, thanks for your method, i'm glad to know it's not just me , and gives me another option.
56, I would love to post pictures, but I don't have the technological capabilities to do that. Right now, this old truck is enough challenge for me. I have learned much from all of you the last few years. Thanks again, larry
