My dome like stays on once awhile after I kill the engine and get out. Normally I have to unplug a relay and let it cool. That is my problem is a bad relay. My schmetic show a light switch for the door, where is the switch located on 1998 F150?
the door switch is located on the latch assembly inside the door. take the panel off and its kinda hard to get your hand in there but follow the wires to the switch. it rotates off. get a switch from the ford dealer. i've changed a bunch of em. a trick you can use to try to get it to work right longer is spray the door latch with a bunch of wd40. most poeple just take the dome light out when the switch goes bad. just be careful what way you rotate the switch when you take it out. look at the new switch and you can tell what way it turns to get it out. good luck
I have a 97 F150 actually it is a 96 1/2. Trust me they do have these. It was manufactured May of 96. Pre show type. Anyways My door open sign on my panel starting staying on every now and then. Then today i was at Home Depot and my dome lights and door lights would not go off for anything. So when i got home i was looking in the panel trying to adjust the door thinking that it wouldnt close all the way. Well that didnt work. So i decided to get on here to see if anybody else has had that problem. I found this thread. After i unpluged the wires from the latch i turned that plug towards me and then i shut the door. Amazingly they went off. I have NOT replace that plug with a new one. It is now working perfectly. Do i have a bogus or haunted truck or is this supose to happen. Thanks for the time.
