Hi John, Just finished going through the whole thread again (rather quickly) so forgive me if the answers are there. I have a few questions.
1) Your 351W motor mounts, did you make those or buy them...where? I am thinking about the TCI mustang !! coil kit.
2) With the TCI rear suspension kit, what pinion angle did you decide on?
3) Where did you get your rad shroud?
4) Did you use the Vintage Air kit?
5) Do you have the 2" drop spindles?
That is about it for now, looking at a 56 next week, wish me luck.
F100 Wish (aka Rob)
1) I used Paul Horton's welder series kit for the motor mounts and were purchased at Street Rod & Restoration Parts - Horton Hot Rod Parts , I used a Heidt's superide ll coil over suspension almost Identical to the TCI
2) 5° for the pinion angle as the kit suggested
3) rad shroud was a stock V8 shroud I modified by trimming back approximately 3/4" and splitting in 2 halves
4) I used the Vintage Air sure fit kit ,made my own dash extension and bought different defusers
5) spindles are stock height which leaves the bottom of the front bumper 9 inches from a level floor..
Hi John.
Thanks for the prompt reply. The 5 degrees I assume is down from pinion to back of diff, is the trans also 5 degrees down at the tailshaft? How did you figure out how high to start with the engine mounts?
Thanks again,
Rob
I didn't set the rear pinion angle until most of the truck was put together and set the pinion angle 5° up at the pinion then welded the spring saddles to the axle shaft housing. Figured out the motor mount position by blocking up the motor and trans in place and giving enough clearance for the steering rack. I went with 3° down with the tail shaft..
I posted some pictures of this awhile back when I found out about it, but I was to far along into my narrowed crown vic front end. I did buy their sway bar though. I just made the mounts and got it installed. I do wish i had seen the crossmember earlier though. it looks well made. I would have bought it I think. look up industrial chassis cross member while you're looking. another nice piece.
Hi John... interesting Appraisal... was that from a private appraiser ?? What do they look at ?? do they take into consideration the custom things you did ?? did it have a positive or negative affect on our insurance rate ??:
cost for appraisal ???
