OK I got some pictures but we are going to hold off posting for now, this kit works so well and is simple to install by a average truck owner. We have decide to look into marketing it as a kit and have started the patent process. Any one here on the sight ever has this problem let me know i'll be looking for field testing trucks and hope to find some good folks to work with on this sight.
Hey autodog I was looking at the pictures of the custom hinge stoppers you made. I think that is exactly what I need. I live in Florida and wind isn't really an issue here, but the same thing happened to me when I was hauling my jetskis. I had pulled into a car wash to rinse off the skis and I backed up with my driver door open and the door got caught against the wall and extended causing the hinges to make that exact mark on the doors. I got everything fixed at a body shop we put new hinges and a check strap And it's helping but little by little the door is getting closer to the hinges again. Do u by any chance make them to sell.
Nice job autodog! They look like they will work well and last a long time. I would think that straps would stretch after awhile...unless they are really thick like lifting straps.
Straps we use after 10 years and 100K miles up north come back still doing the job. They are a very thick nylon.
Two common mods you'll see on almost every vehicle in Iceland.
1) That strap (seatbelt material) to stop door from folding back on itself and
2) A piece of ribbon tied on the antenna so you can be sure to park facing into the wind.
here are a few pictures from the door repair with my new limit brks in place what a difference they make, anyone interested just contact me I'll see if I can help
wind caught my door big time on my F150. King Ranch. I live in Casper Wy. Just my luck, on work comp now truck door is tweeked. It will close makes a horrible noise when opening and closing Looks terrible and now drivers floor board is soaked from rain. Wish I had your resources. Going to show to some friends see if I can get it at least semi fixed until I get back to work. Great job and thank you.
