My friend owned the truck during hurricane sandy so I know it wasn't in that lol
I don't know if there was a used pedal put in...he just swapped it with a good one. That could mean it's still the original pedal for all I know. Just think that for the small cost of a pedal it's worthe totally eliminating that. I'm running out of patience with this thing quick
would be great if the new pedal solved it--your due so luck!!!

I went back and reread the whole post. Then I went and looked at the coffee table book for an 03 on how the APP works.
What you are experienceing is not a malfunction but by design.
If one signal is lost or does not agree the truck will act normal.
If two signals do not agree the truck will only idle, a safety feature.
Your trace shows no signal at all on one and the other two do not match close enough that the PCM will accept is all I can figure.
I can find no info on what the actual value limitations are so I can only guess.
A brand new app seems to be the only answer.
I really hope so...this was such a headache last winter, im really hoping this fixes it. I'd also like to be able to rub it in my old mechanics face because he said "lol ok" when i told him i was going to replace the pedal since he never did
If a brand new APP does not resolve the issue. The only other thing would be a wireing problem with the circuit of some sort.
I had hoped we would find a different soloution. I fought this problem in the fleet with 10 trucks all 03/04. Water incursion small drips from bad windshield mounts[glue/sealant].
Useually cleaning and lubricateing the pivot points would fix that but sometimes moisture would get in the swich itself. We tried all kinds of crazey stuff even drilling 1/16 holes in the plastic switch itself and spraying electronic cleaner in it while working thru it's range of motion. This would help for awhile but eventually replacement was the only permanent cure.
I really hope this does it. Fedex says the pedal should be here by 1030am tomorrow so its going in as soon as it shows up... granted it hasn't happened again since yesterday but im always on edge waiting for it to die
If it don't witch I sure hope it does can I steal your Mirrors, dam Miles I hope you get this under control brother , you have been having troubles way to long.
If anyone wants to try the drilling of the switch case. Keep in mind not to damage the internals. We drilled 2 1/16 holes 1 at the top 1 bottom with a pencil drill[used to cean the holes on cutting tips]. You twirl it between your thumb and fore finger. Even tho it is plastic it is tough and takes some time.
The bottom hole is a drain, you don't want to leave any liquid in there. It can conduct electricty. We also used a hair dryer for awhile to dry it out before we resealed the holes. Resealing is important. I don't know if it did more harm than good we also sprayed a little wd-40 figuering we needed to relubricate it.
Remember this was not a permanent fix. The six we tried that on never lasted more than a few months.
The new pedal looks a little different...but it bolt right in and lines up and works fine. Right part number so maybe its just updated version. Hopefully this is the end
Do you have any input on the difference in pedals? Do later 6.0s have this pedal? I have a early 03, i believe it was made in january 03 so im sure things changed
Some of our replacement pedal were made a little different. Like you we figured a production change. Since they all fit and worked we just went with the flow.
It died 7-8 times today on my ride home from dinner, all on the highway, just cruising along. It was lightly raining and the roads were soaked, which before when it happened it was usually snowing. Not sure if related or just coincidence every time.
Also...I got the bright idea (probably should have done this long time ago) to say "hey..i wonder if cruise control will get me down the highway" and yup, it died and i hit cruise control and i kept moving along. Definitely think that is a lead
Another update...the CEL never came on yesterday, but when i started my truck this morning it came on. Same P2139 and P2140...same 2 codes since this started the first time. Except now i clear them and they just come right back, although im driving around just fine again. For now
I also went under the truck and dielectric greased the connections on the fuel pump, the 3 on the little block just behind it, the 2 on the transfer case, 1 on the trans (not the big one on the right...worried it may get damaged if i try to take it off) and then the 1 thats like right below the firewall. I think thats all of them. They were all dry and non-corroded
I have a new ICP sensor from Riffraff diesel i need to install soon. What is the best way to accomplish that on an 03? I don't want to take the turbo out if i dont have too, since i need to do an oil cooler/install 05 intake manifold...i might go find someone with smaller arms than me haha
