One of the super coils busted while driving my 2002 F250 Super Duty. I drove it for less than 100 ft. before parking it. It made a rapid "check, check, check, check" sound, which I'm assuming was mainly the coil smacking against other parts while loose. It busted near the point where it screws into the motor. I felt like I lost some compression as it drove sluggishly once broken, although I only drove for a very short time. I also thought I may have smelt a slight burning scent, or maybe oil, but didn't smell anything once I got out of my truck. Any problems I should look forward to other than simply replacing this $50 coil? Thanks in advance for your replies!
Did you also launch a plug? It seems unlikely that the COP would just break.
This might be a moot question, just curious.
Thanks for your reply! I don't think so. It's -10 degrees in Michigan this morning and my lifted truck was driving very rough over the bumpy roads around here, and the coil is plastic. When I went to open the hood, I put a little pressure on the bug guard and shattered it, due to the cold, so I'm guessing the rough ride and cold probably did it. It's obviously cracked off and loose.
I assumed since there are 8 holes on each side that 4 were for coils and 4 were for plugs, as that's what it looked like to me. I'm starting to think you may be right.
Are you familiar with http://www.gofundme.com ? If you only have 600 bones you need to save that. I mean it's not funny, seriously though. Sell something. Got any kids you don't need, old cars, stereos, something.

I have a small business in landscaping and just getting into remodeling and this is the slowest time of the year for me, when I'm stretching each dollar for miles. Fortunately, no family, so I'm screwed by myself if it costs more than I have. Nothing much to sell, I put all into my business. To make matters worse, I live in an apartment in a downtown area, so no garage and it's brutally cold in Mi this week. It'll work out one way or another though, it always does.
This problem has hurt a lot of self-employed folks over the years, that's for sure.
A thought exercise only - WARNING - just for grins (and you can bet SOMEBODY has done this) what happens if ya just JB weld the damn plug in there? Just curious. Does it hold? LOL
