Congrats on the new truck and camper. Looks like the elevated rear living room in the Bighorn with extra storage underneath. Wife and I looked at the Bighorn's..Montana's..and a lot of others. All of them looked nice to me with all of that living area compared to the toyhauler we had before. Best of luck with the new rig and you'll be surprised how easily the truck will pull it. I use the tow haul mode and the exhaust brake and let the tranny with the 4.10's do their job when accelerating. I've been getting about 9 mpg doing 63-65 mph and at 55-60 almost 10 mpg. Cruising speed and headwinds take a toll towing 16K or more.
Narrowed our RV search down to a couple trailers, both fairly large 5th wheel toyhaulers. Wanted a DRW truck to be as relaxed as possible towing since that’s the whole point of having a camper. Dealer made us a good deal and the $3k PCO didn’t hurt either......
Beautiful truck...congrats!! We traded in a Fuzion 371 toyhauler that was a great unit. Got rid of the toys and wife wanted more living area.
The above Big Horn is now ours. While I feel we paid a bit too much we liked it enough to make the leap. We're having upgrades added (Lippert steps and a Progressive Industries "internal" EMS) and afterward the dealer will hold it for us until we can get some *Home Work* accomplished.
After 5 years and 35k I think I finally have mine set up just how I want it! H&S cold side tube, bilstein shocks, TSC chest in the front of the bed, Truxedo Deuce for dry storage and easy box access, Bully bedside step for pulling 5th lock pin. Front lightbar, rear lights under bumper, high idle and Airlift WirelessAir and bags wired to upfitters. Edge insight monitor and Cobra CB in cab. Had to pull the trailer out to pressure wash house, almost finished 2nd coat of wax and cleaned up to head to Delaware Thursday!
Truck still needs a bath yet. Much like Paw posted above, our needs have also changed and it looks like in about 15 months we will order a mid bunk unit to replace the toyhauler. Have a few options high on the list but the Grand Design Reflection 367BHS is holding the top spot for now.
Paw, making a slight correction - the elevated rear end houses the master bedroom while the living room (also elevated) is upfront. For me it provides greater separation of the three zones; and of course provides MUCH storage space.
Dealer is also throwing in a complete Anderson Hitch!

I've used the external version for 4 years (30A) and have been happy with Progressive Industries; in that time they've repaired it twice (at no cost to me/ excluding shipping one way).
Because they do get damaged I've been hesitant about an internal unit (in the event it too gets blown up) - one can't simply unplug it and mail it back to them.
Because this new fifth is 50A I needed a different EMS; I will also need 50A service to the pole barn (when complete).
As an aside: yesterday my neighbor confided he's got Truck Envy; he gave his immaculate crew cab 2006 Chev 2500 diesel to his son and picked up a recent model Caddy pickup for himself.

Congrats on picking up the new Bighorn and truck...now we need pics of them hooked up!!
I see you're in Alabama and wondering if you've ever been to DeSoto State Park in Ft.Payne..a few buddies of mine have been there and said it's real nice. About 480 miles from my house taking I-59 so it's a pretty good drive for this old guy! Pass it all the time when we head to Tennessee. Built this cover a few years ago for our previous camper but it's a little too short for the new one.
I haven't been there; I just googled and found its 271 miles north of me.
And until I get a spot bulldozed to park the new unit in it'll remain at the dealers, so no pics yet.

Here are my two (former) units making whoopie.
Not a bad looking rig there either. 271 miles south of Ft.Payne would probably put you on the coast but that's not a bad days drive. Wife's brother had a condo in Orange Beach and later built a house on the Ft. Morgan road. Wife ran his business so he'd let us use the places for vacations. Nice area on the Alabama coast. Hope you get the land cleared quickly to get that beautiful camper home!

Nice rig...enjoy the trip to Delaware. Tax free state so the women go nut's at the shopping malls!!

I'm in the Dothan area, it's another hour and a half to the water (Panama City, FL).
Yes it (the former Jayco) was a good fifth but it was demonstrating its age (11 years and little things kept requiring time/ money) - to where I no longer trusted (gambling) going on long trips with it, short trips were fine. Just like us it was getting older but it never let us down.
As the CEO wanted to travel (further from home) we decided to look for a newer fifth. The only change she required was it to have a second air conditioner (ours didn't) while I wanted a King mattress (ours had an RV queen); while shopping we viewed this unit and noticed its big difference in build quality; for us it was OVERKILL - but we were hooked.
This heavier/ longer fifth (10K vs 16K pounds / 32' vs 42') is why the 2014 F250 was given up (with only 21K on the odometer) for the new dually.
Now that 10 extra feet length fifth requires a new entrance to our place (the 32 footer was already tight in the turns) so ... new driveway and pole barn to follow, then electrical service to it.
I know where the Dothan area is located...former neighbor went to an aircraft school and lived in Ozark for awhile. Same here about spending the kids inheritance! We looked at trailers in the 35 to 37' range at first but ended up with a 41 footer so we could gain an extra bedroom in the middle with an overhead loft. Our two married daughters and their kids come along on trips so the extra room is nice. My dad was in the Army in WW2 from 1940 to '45 when it ended. 2nd Armored Div assigned to company headquarters. They had their training at Ft.Benning and as a kid I remember taking a trip there in the mid 50's. In the 60's we lived close to the Naval Air Station in New Orleans and I was able to get into the Air National Guard from 1969 to '75. Hope you're enjoying time being retired from the Army and have fun camping!
