It's that bottom leaf/plate that provides the second part of the SD B/C code spring's dual spring ratings and make them superior to our stockers. And as was stated it does stay and the top overload leaf (if equipped) is the one that comes off for installation on an EX. It is that removed top overload leaf that I added to my front X codes on my rig.
