Finishing up more of the details. A lot more wiring continuing. I plan on getting the van running and moving on it own first, then swapping in the 2010 dash. So this means that most of the wiring that I am doing under the dash is temporary.
I also have been finishing more details under the hood. I was able to install the header panel supports and moved the power steering cooler.
Started to re install the coolers. Things are getting tight under the hood.
First order of business was to finish up the exhaust. Tail pipe is fitted and installed.
I also tidied up the wiring.
And, it finally seen the light of day!! Unfortunately it did not do this under its own power. I still need a couple of more parts for that to happen, which should be here Tuesday.
I have 9' tall x 8' wide garage doors, and this barely fit out the door.
To give you an idea of size, my truck is an extend cab long bed, with 4" of lift and 35's under it.
The next thing is to get it running and moving under its own power. Then it is on to the dash swap.
Well, last night was more detail work. Since both batteries are now on the frame rail, what is a person to do if you need a jump......
We use these jumper posts.
Started installing the passenger side fender grill.
And while working on the fenders, I shortened up the fender flare. Previous pictures show the rear part of the flare hangs down past the body line quite a bit. I shortened it up to be even with the pinch weld.
More parts coming in today, so hopefully this will be ready to run by the end of the night.
You are the good kind of crazy, tune out the ones that say can't and shouldn't and listen to your own warped vision of what a van can be . I salute you !
Thanks guys for the kind words. I don't have any pictures from last night, but everything is in place to start it tonight. The owner is coming over and hopefully with the turn of the key, she'll fire up. We will see.
After priming the fuel pump, and charging the batteries, the van fired up....... but there was oil leaking out of the exhaust at the clamp to the turbo, so we shut it down. The oil could be residual oil left over from the injector change, or it could be turbo pedestal issues, I dont know yet. I will pull the turbo off to investigate just to be safe. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Always better off spending a little time to check something out even if it turns out to be something minor, especially since the one time you don't it'll always end up being something major enough to trash the motor lol or at least that's the way my luck goes lol
mother of god that van looks sexy .. i want it !!!!
I think that sums up many of our opinions and thoughts here so far---well put Tims01!
Its just been in the past day or so I noticed the fuse box tucked away in the side door foot well, the one now blocked by the rear wheel extensions. That's a very clever use of what could have been lost space.
