My first car was a 78 Pinto Runabout bought for $800 in 1989, had three rocker arms drop and ground four lobs of the cam. (PO fixed what broke and not the reason for it breaking) Rebuilt the motor figured the rest of the car was good why risk an other used car. The shop that did the head work put a modified cam in the head redid the bottom end to get the metal shaving out. All I can say is at that time the way I was driving any thing more and I doubt i would be hear today that 2.3 could move and would smoke the tires.

You can get huge amounts of HP out of those 2.3s............There's a reason that motor hung around for so long.

The Mustang police cars were called "SSP". Essentially a lot of GT parts were included in the package. 5.0 Liter with either a 4 speed automatic or 5 speed manual. We got our 1st Mustangs in 83 with the 5 speed. If you want to see something funny, you should have seen me trying to fit into one of those things with the Police MC boots on.....
