Not much to report here. Waiting on my new stereo to arrive from crutchfield, should be here tomorrow. Once that is here, I can dissassemble my dash and cracked dashpad and fix a bunch of stuff. Maybe a few less rattles while I am at it.
Hopefully tomorrow the CCC welding department chair will get back to me so I can talk about challenging some courses. I have the skill to aquire about 25 some odd credits in about a days time if he lets me. I have a couple more in history to challenge to add credits to my transcript.
Those extra credits will make me eligible for "skipping" E-1 and E-2, and go straight to PFC. Still waiting to clear medical, doc hasnt looked over my paperwork just yet. Was hoping I would be up there tonight and process tomorrow but nope, I get to hurry up and wait some more!
Hope I can enlist while my recruiter is still there, he leaves at the end of the month. I have worked with him for over 10 months on ROTC and other stuffs. I have gotten to know him on a personal basis as well, pretty relaxed and fun guy. Plus if I ask him to throw a rock up the chain of command for me, he will. Have yet to meet another in my area that will go request a MOS opening for a recruit, "im getting you what you want one way or another", or go push the boundaries to get things done.
Belated good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Just getting home. What an afternoon and evening. Been to Lowe's, Cemeteries, the Carlton house, MIL Care Home and back to Lowes for the drill bits I forgot when the Warden kept pestering me to look at flowers out in the garden section and a stop at our favorite Chinese Restaurant for dinner.
Visit with MIL actually went pretty well for the first half hour or so. Then she started getting just a tad on the mean and nasty side. Told us we didn't care about her and we were very mean to her because we wouldn't take her back to Darby Montana or Leadore Idaho.
Jim, what's the story on the new rims? Same as before, or different?
The Weld Typhoons have not been in production for several years now. I was told there was a warehouse full of back stock that was sold at auction to various dealers a couple of years ago. I have found several of these businesses selling the "new" Typhoons, but they are all out of stock on the size I need.
New wheels will look fairly close to what I think the OEM's were. There are a number of companies that make them. I believe the Les Schwab version is called the Type 62 "Rock Crusher". Not sure what they call the ones I ordered through tire factory. They looked identical and were $100 cheaper than Schwab and $130 cheaper than Ford.
I'm heading out to do some field work today. Digging in the road looking for really old survey markers. Hopefully, I'll get some pictures and not get run over.
