Yea I was just being lazy and was tired of working in the dark. I'll pull the rods and Pistons out tomorrow. Just weird that I can't figure out what motor this is
i had the same issue with a 66 289 a few years ago.
one piston was stuck.
it took about 15 hard hits with a 5 lb sledge on a 2X4 to the bottom of the piston to break it free.

x8, I had a '66 289 that had been put together without the block to head dowel pins. All 8 were rusted in. Pounded them out, then had to sell the car as a basket case. I made $100 in the end..... A little rust goes a long ways in the cylinder.
Yea I didn't think about that. I first looked for broken parts that might have been jammed between the crank and something. Pulled apart a 351 that had the same problem. I guess when I get home tonight I will tear it apart all the way. But how come I can't find some parts for this motor. Like the valve springs. And timing cover
Valve springs are readily available, try NAPA or aftermarket. Cam makers sell kits with valve springs.
Front cover might be a jy item, but I turned up a couple with a search, so they are available also. Billions served......
Also, the FE top end oiling requires the bolts holding the rocker shaft on be placed in the correct holes as one serves as an oil passage. Get a book on these and/or make sure you keep everything in order when working on the heads etc.

I was looking at summit racing and couldn't find things like after market cranks. Valve springs. Heads. Very few Pistons. Very few rods. And no timing chain covers. And yes I selected the right motor.
if i remember correctly all FE timing covers are the same, through all engine sizes.
FT is a different animal though. you have to be careful, FE and FT parts do not readily mix.
